Description
Mount Vernon High School is seeking applicants for a Special Education teacher. Teachers in Mount Vernon lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for the intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation by providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning which is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver effective instruction by preparing lessons, using varied instructional strategies, meeting assigned classes, and implementing district curriculum, philosophy, and goals.
Create and maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment by establishing classroom expectations, managing behavior fairly, and protecting students, materials, and facilities.
Assess, document, and monitor student progress through regular evaluation and maintenance of accurate records in compliance with legal and district requirements.
Support student needs and comply with educational plans and policies, including participation on IEP/504 teams, implementation of individualized plans, and adherence to Board policies and reporting requirements.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators to support instructional goals, student success, and school operations, including co-curricular responsibilities.
Demonstrate professionalism and continuous growth by maintaining positive relationships, serving as a role model, engaging in professional development, and supporting school rules and expectations.

Requirements
Education/Experience-Bachelor’s Degree
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations-Appropriate certification in field and a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate.
