Description
The Process Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for the special education process, ensuring all procedures and placements comply with state and federal regulations. Serving as a vital liaison between parents, staff, and the Director of Special Services, they facilitate meetings, manage student evaluations and IEP development, and analyze academic data to support the provision of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

An individual who holds this position is responsible for:

Referral & Screening Management: Oversee the screening of transfer and new referral records, including obtaining necessary parent permissions for evaluations.

IEP Development: Facilitate the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by coordinating with parents, staff, and previous school districts.

Evaluation Oversight: Manage the K-12 evaluation process, which includes organizing reports and assisting with student testing and observations.

Quality Assurance: Proofread and approve evaluation reports and IEPs written by teachers to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Consultation & Meetings: Serve as a consultant to school personnel and attend necessary IEP, evaluation, and after-school meetings.

Program Support: Assist the Director of Special Services with researching and implementing new program components for the district.

Supervisory Duties:

Assist the Director of Special Services with supervision of special education staff.

Requirements
Teacher Contract + 10 additional days (190 days) + PC stipend.

Qualifications:

Special Education Certification (Required)

Masters Degree or above with an emphasis in Special Education (Preferred)

A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in Special Education is preferred.

Successful administrative experience with excellent communication skills.

Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.

Skills and Abilities:

Communication & Reporting: Present information to the Board and staff, conduct interviews, and draft correspondence or newsletters while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Analytical Reasoning: Define complex problems and collect data to establish facts and draw valid, evidence-based conclusions.

Data & Computation: Calculate ratios and percentages to create and interpret professional graphs, figures, and student information reports.

Technical Proficiency: Utilize word processing, spreadsheets, and research tools to analyze professional journals, statutes, and district policies.
