Description
Paraprofessionals assist classroom teachers with the delivery of instructional services to students. A personal aide also provides non-instructional services such as ambulatory, eating, and toileting assistance necessary for students to safely access the district’s facilities and programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivers supportive tutoring and educational tasks under the direct guidance of the classroom teacher.

Supervises students during independent classwork, answering questions and keeping them focused on the assignment.

Leads review sessions and practice activities to reinforce lessons previously taught by the lead teacher.
Reads exam questions and records answers for students who require specific testing accommodations under their IEP.

Implements classroom behavior plans and uses approved management techniques to maintain a safe learning environment.

Monitors special education students during high-activity transition periods, including recess, lunch, assemblies, and hall movement.

Assists students with necessary personal and physical care routines, such as ambulatory, eating, or toileting needs.

Helps the special education teacher manage student progress folders, program paperwork, and instructional material inventories.

Observes student interactions and promptly updates the teacher regarding any behavioral, social, or safety concerns.

Requirements
Background Checks: Clearance on all background checks required by law that is satisfactory to the administration.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and minimum of 36 college hours.

Certificates: Passed the ParaPro Assessment or complete the 20 hour Substitute Certification Course.
