High School Assistant Cheer Coach (2026-2027)

Description
Mount Vernon High School is seeking applicants for the position of High School Assistant Cheer Coach for the Spring 2026-2027 season. This position teaches and coaches our students to the highest level that can be attained, while supporting the academic beliefs and practices of the district.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act professionally and within district guidelines, carrying out assignments promptly, responding positively to direction, and adhering to Board of Education policies and procedures.
- Promote positive relationships and communication with students, parents, staff, administrators, and the community, presenting a positive image of the school and district.
- Support student safety and well-being by taking appropriate precautions and maintaining knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and procedures related to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials.
- Collaborate effectively with school personnel, including administrators, faculty, staff, and the Head Coach, to support programs and assigned responsibilities.
- Manage and oversee fundraising and budget responsibilities, including supervising fundraising activities and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality, pursue ongoing professional growth, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, peers and adults
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty
Assistant Coach:
Preferred – Bachelors Degree
Minimum – 60 College Hours
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Shall hold certification as required by Missouri law and/or MSHSAA guidelines:
Assistant Coach:
Preferred - Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate
Minimum - Valid Missouri Substitute Certificate
Background Checks - Clearance on all background checks required by law that is satisfactory to the Administration.
Appropriate Drivers’ License required in the event position requires transport of students.
