Board of Education Meeting, July 16, 2026
The Mt. Vernon R-V School District Board of Education met in regular session on July 16, 2026.
In open session:
- The Board set the Annual Levy Hearing for August 20, 2026 prior to the regular board meeting.
- Average Daily Attendance for the 2025-2026 school year was given. The trend of decreasing approximately 44 students continued throughout the school year. This will be taken into consideration when budgeting for the next school year, as the district will receive funding based on the highest of the prior three years in attendance.
- School Food Program: The Board approved participation in the Federal Food Subsidy Program (lunch prices for the year are already set at June’s Board Meeting).
- Safety & Policy Updates: Dr. Prevo presented the Board with the updated Emergency Operations Plan for the MV School District for approval. There will also be formal training at the beginning of the school year for all staff.
- The yearly GoCAPS contract was approved for students that will be attending this program in the upcoming school year. This program is in correlation with Monett Schools.
- The Board also voted to keep ticket and season pass prices to district athletic events the same as the last 15 years.
- A summer maintenance report from Maintenance Director Jonathan Aldrich was given to the Board. This also included an update to the current maintenance and facilities plan. Several key projects on the maintenance plan have been successfully addressed, including critical upgrades and repairs to HVAC units and control systems, roof repairs, and restoring external lighting to full working order across all campuses. Additionally, crews have successfully resolved several restroom maintenance issues throughout the district. This updated maintenance plan serves as an active, ongoing framework—allowing the district to accurately track completed work while proactively managing future facility needs.
- We appreciate all of the hard work from our maintenance staff and custodial staff each and every day. The summer maintenance and custodial projects take a great deal of time and work to ensure we are ready for a great school year. Thank you to all of our maintenance staff and custodial staff for being such an important part of our school!
- Performing Arts Center (PAC): A progress update on the new PAC construction from Veregy. The full project is expected to be completed by the second week of September. However, the band room and commons area should be complete by the beginning of the school year.
In Closed Session:
- Two critical shortage positions were approved. Both staff members have been with the district and will continue to hold positions. Kaylynn Pennell will teach 7th grade Social Studies, and Allen Stolte will continue to teach High School Business.
The next regular Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 7:00 in the Mt. Vernon R-V Boardroom.
